Kaltura, Inc., known for its AI Video Experience Cloud, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire eSelf.ai, a multimodal AI lab that specializes in developing technology for agent-driven interactions using realistic live avatars. The deal was finalized on November 5, 2025.
eSelf.ai offers conversational, photorealistic avatars capable of communicating in more than 30 languages. The company also provides an intuitive studio environment where users can design, manage, and deploy these avatars. Its unique technology blends AI-driven, lifelike visual agents with fast speech recognition and generation, screen comprehension, dynamic media sharing, and an enterprise-grade agentic framework.
Founded in 2023, eSelf.ai has quickly built a strong reputation and was named one of FastCompany’s “Next Big Things in Tech” in 2025. The team includes over 15 AI specialists working across computer vision, NLP, and speech technologies. The company is led by co-founders Dr. Alan Bekker and Eylon Shoshan. Dr. Bekker, a machine-learning PhD focusing on speech, NLP, and computer vision, was honored in Forbes’ “30 under 30 – Europe.” Prior to eSelf.ai, he co-founded Voca.ai, an early innovator in voice-driven agents, which Snap later acquired—where he went on to lead conversational AI initiatives.
Kaltura plans to embed eSelf.ai’s virtual agents across its AI Video Experience Cloud, allowing avatars to appear throughout its flagship video solutions. Furthermore, this integration will enhance Kaltura’s Genies — including Class, Work, CX, and TV Genies — transforming them into conversational agents able to see users’ screens, interpret context, and respond in real time. The company also expects smooth integrations with enterprise systems and content libraries, helping customers scale human tasks affordably while improving engagement, retention, and overall business productivity.
Additionally, Kaltura intends to launch stand-alone, self-service interactive avatars to support its product-led growth strategy. The technology will also anchor a new video-on-demand creation tool, allowing businesses to easily embed photorealistic or animated speaking avatars into any video. This dual use positions eSelf.ai as a critical driver in Kaltura’s strategy for next-generation VOD content and live, conversational AI experiences.
The acquisition is expected to increase revenue opportunities across Kaltura’s existing enterprise customers, attract new large-scale clients, and open more self-serve sales channels for SMBs and departmental deployments. Kaltura shared several scenarios where immersive virtual agents could deliver value, ranging from marketing and sales to training, onboarding, HR, and customer support — along with industry-specific use cases in education, retail, financial services, media, healthcare, and professional services.
“We are excited at the opportunity to welcome the talented eSelf.ai team and their cutting-edge technology. This acquisition will expand our content creation tools to include AI-based avatar content, and most importantly will accelerate our expansion into powering also immersive, real-time, virtual agents for customer and employee experiences,” said Ron Yekutiel, Co-founder, Chairman, President and CEO of Kaltura. He emphasized Kaltura’s strong position to drive this next phase of AI video evolution, given its deep enterprise reach, scalable infrastructure, data insights, and extensive workflow integrations.
“eSelf.ai enables immersive, real-time conversations with agentic avatars that are highly engaging, hyper-personalized, and impactful,” said Dr. Alan Bekker, Co-founder and CEO of eSelf.ai. He added that combining forces with Kaltura will help bring eSelf.ai’s technology to a global audience and enable its integration across learning, customer experience, events, and TV ecosystems.
