General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, has announced an expanded collaboration with Google Public Sector to accelerate digital innovation across U.S. government agencies. The strengthened relationship aims to deliver secure artificial intelligence solutions and advanced cloud capabilities to defense, intelligence, and civilian sectors that must operate at mission-critical speed.
GDIT will combine its long-standing mission expertise with the technology strengths of google cloud, including AI, cloud, and cybersecurity offerings. By integrating GDIT’s Digital Accelerators portfolio onto google cloud, the company will help federal agencies rapidly design, deploy, and scale solutions that support faster decision-making, stronger protection, and more efficient mission execution.
The first priority of this collaboration focuses on developing “mission edge AI” solutions. GDIT will use Google Distributed Cloud to deliver AI-driven computing in remote and disconnected environments where communication is limited or unavailable. This rugged and portable “cloud-in-a-box” system is authorized for secure operations at the Secret level (U.S. Department of War Impact Level 6). It enables mission teams to continue running critical workloads even when offline. During Exercise Mobility Guardian 2025 — the U.S. Air Force’s major mobility exercise in the Indo-Pacific — GDIT showcased this capability by integrating its AI digital accelerator to support air mobility operations at the tactical edge.
The second focus area centers on transforming citizen engagement services for civilian and health agencies. GDIT will incorporate AI capabilities such as conversational, generative, and agentic models into modernized service experiences built on google cloud Contact Center AI Platform. A recent modernization project for a large federal agency, powered by GDIT and Google Public Sector, delivered remarkable results: $12 million in cost savings and a 40% reduction in incoming call volume.
Ben Gianni, GDIT’s Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the importance of rapid innovation across federal missions, stating:
“In this dynamic and complex environment, federal agencies need industry partners to innovate faster than ever before from the tactical edge of the mission to the enterprise. This expanded partnership will enable us to jointly invest, develop and deliver proven solutions at speed to meet diverse demands and advance our national security priorities.”
Jan Neimeic, Managing Director of National Security at Google Public Sector, reiterated Google’s commitment to government innovation, adding:
“At Google Public Sector, our mission is to bring the best of Google's innovation to the government, securely and at scale. This strategic collaboration with GDIT acts as a force multiplier... From modernizing citizen services with generative AI, to delivering critical communication at the mission edge, this partnership will accelerate the government’s digital transformation.”
Together, GDIT and google cloud aim to redefine modern government operations through secure AI, mission-edge computing, and a new standard of digital modernization.
