Carly, a company specializing in personal scheduling assistants, has officially launched its AI-powered assistant designed to coordinate, schedule, and manage calendar events with human-level precision.
“Carly’s mission is to remove a universal frustration in business: scheduling,” said Sarah Warman Hirschfield, founder of Carly. “We combine the efficiency of Calendly, the natural language processing capabilities of ChatGPT, and the familiarity of email and text communication to bring scheduling into the modern age.”
Unlike traditional booking links, which can often feel impersonal or rigid, Carly operates like a real assistant. Users simply copy Carly into an email thread, and she takes over—suggesting times, sending invites, and handling reschedules. The assistant integrates seamlessly with tools professionals already use, such as email and SMS. Additionally, users can share event details through images or PDFs, making the experience even more intuitive.
“Scheduling is a tax on productivity,” Hirschfield explained. “Back-and-forth emailing, cross-referencing calendars, and manually adding events require time and brainpower. Personal assistants are great because they can take these necessary and nuanced yet routine tasks off your plate.”
Since its early testing phase, Carly has scheduled thousands of events for hundreds of clients, including startup founders, sales professionals, parents, and professors managing busy schedules.
While email-based scheduling assistants have existed for over a decade, many early players such as X.ai and Clara Labs shut down after acquisitions. The rise of generative AI has fueled a new generation of startups determined to transform scheduling into a smarter, more efficient process.
“Our goal is to continue to raise the bar for how good AI can be,” Hirschfield added. “First, we want to surpass human personal assistants on every metric that matters. Carly is fast and accurate, but can she have the best personality, can she think a thousand steps ahead? Second, we want to expand Carly’s job responsibilities. Currently, she can search the web to find coffee shops and do research. Next, she will be able to make reservations, book flights, and more. Third, we want to raise the standards in our industry for quality. We are an anti-slop, zero-mistake type of company, and we think this should be table stakes. Finally, we want to achieve all this while continuing to have the best customer service.”
Carly’s public launch signals a step forward in blending AI with human-like interactions, aiming to redefine how individuals and businesses manage their time.
