HCLSoftware Expands AI Analytics Capabilities With Wobby Acquisition

HCLSoftware Expands AI Analytics Capabilities With Wobby Acquisition

HCLSoftware, the enterprise software division of HCLTech, has announced its intention to acquire Wobby, an emerging AI startup specializing in AI-powered Data Analyst Agents. Headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium, Wobby is an early-stage innovator focused on helping organizations extract faster, smarter insights from complex data environments.

This strategic move reflects the growing enterprise demand for AI-driven, self-service analytics that simplify how business users interact with data. As organizations continue to scale their data estates, traditional analytics tools often struggle to deliver timely, context-rich insights. Consequently, companies are increasingly turning toward agentic AI models that can automate analytical workflows and reduce dependency on technical teams.

HCLSoftware’s Data & AI division, Actian, has experienced strong momentum over the past five years. This growth has been driven by rising adoption of its metadata management, data catalog, and data governance solutions across global enterprises. By bringing Wobby into its ecosystem, HCLSoftware aims to strengthen Actian’s ability to deliver natural-language-driven analytics layered on top of trusted, governed data environments.

Notably, Wobby’s technology enables users to ask questions of complex datasets using natural language, eliminating the need for deep SQL or technical expertise. Its platform leverages a proprietary semantic layer combined with an agentic architecture that understands business context, automates complex analytical processes, and produces high-quality insights at scale. This capability aligns closely with Actian’s Data Intelligence Platform, particularly its knowledge graph and governance strengths.

As a result, the acquisition is expected to help enterprises move beyond reactive reporting toward on-demand and proactive analytics, where insights surface automatically based on business signals. This evolution supports faster decision-making while maintaining data accuracy and trust—two critical factors in modern AI adoption.

“Customers want self-service analytics with AI-driven insights that they can trust,” said Marc Potter, CEO Actian & Portfolio General Manager of HCLSoftware’s Data & AI division. “With Wobby, Actian provides LLM-powered natural-language analytics on a unified, governed semantic layer, enabling self-service analytics that delivers context-rich, accurate insights and a foundation for scaling GenAI initiatives with confidence.”

In addition, Wobby’s leadership sees the acquisition as an opportunity to expand its impact across global enterprises. By integrating its AI agents with Actian’s mature data intelligence capabilities, the combined solution aims to offer a differentiated approach to enterprise data management.

“Wobby is reinventing how teams do business intelligence by building AI agents that not only answer questions, but also are evolving toward proactive analytics by sharing automated insights,” said Amra Dorjbayar, CEO and Co-Founder, Wobby. “Combining Wobby’s capabilities with Actian Data Intelligence platform will offer customers a differentiated approach to data management.”

Overall, the planned acquisition highlights a broader industry shift toward AI-native analytics platforms that emphasize governance, explainability, and scale. As generative AI adoption accelerates, enterprises are prioritizing solutions that allow business users to interact directly with data—without compromising compliance or accuracy.

Once completed, the acquisition is expected to position HCLSoftware as a stronger player in the AI-powered data intelligence landscape, enabling customers to unlock value from raw data faster and with greater confidence.
