Trend Micro, a global cybersecurity leader, has partnered with Cifas, the UK’s top fraud prevention service, to launch JustMe, a first-of-its-kind mobile application designed to shield individuals from identity theft and online scams.
Fraud continues to be a major issue across England and Wales, accounting for nearly 44% of all reported crimes and costing the UK economy an estimated £219 billion annually. This year alone, UK consumers have suffered around £10 billion in losses from digital scams.
Insights from the Cifas National Database the UK’s largest source of fraud-risk intelligence show that identity fraud remains the most common type of fraud, representing 59% of all cases, and continues to threaten consumers nationwide.
JustMe helps users protect themselves by combining real-time verification with intelligent scam detection. The app gives individuals greater control over their personal data and allows them to confirm whether applications made under their name, such as loans or credit cards, are legitimate. It also alerts users if scammers target them and enables them to verify suspicious content including messages, emails, and social media posts to determine whether it is fraudulent.
Mike Haley, CEO at Cifas, said:
“Cifas's partnership with Trend Micro promises to be transformational. Our shared ambition is to provide tools millions of people to protect themselves from fraud… This is a groundbreaking move that elevates our capabilities and reinforces our commitment to protecting individuals and organisations from the ever-evolving threat of identity fraud.”
Frank Kuo, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Trend Micro, added:
“We are proud to stand in partnership with Cifas in our shared mission to take a more proactive approach to fighting identity fraud and online scams… JustMe is a simple but powerful solution intended to give consumers a way to fight back.”
By combining Trend Micro’s cybersecurity expertise with Cifas’ deep fraud-prevention data, JustMe introduces a new benchmark in digital safety. Together, both companies aim to empower millions of people to safeguard their identities and stay ahead of online threats.
