PanTerra has officially introduced Streams.AI for Microsoft Teams, a new application that brings enterprise-grade calling, business messaging, and secure fax directly into the Microsoft Teams interface—while also reducing outage risks and removing extra licensing and administrative burdens.
With this launch, organizations can continue using the familiar Microsoft Teams workspace without relying entirely on Microsoft’s telephony infrastructure. Instead of routing calls through Microsoft Teams Phone, Streams.AI operates on PanTerra’s carrier-grade cloud network. As a result, if Microsoft Teams experiences downtime, communications automatically switch to PanTerra’s apps and devices, keeping employees and customers connected without disruption.
Business continuity remains a growing concern as Microsoft Teams outages continue to impact daily operations. Since August 2023, Microsoft Teams has faced more than 112 service disruptions, often affecting voice services. For businesses that depend solely on Teams Phone, these outages can halt sales calls, support services, and internal coordination. In addition, Teams Phone licensing costs between $8 and $12 per user each month, creating significant annual expenses for larger teams.
Streams.AI addresses both challenges by maintaining Microsoft Teams as the user interface while ensuring that voice services run independently. During an outage, calls automatically reroute to mobile apps, desktop apps, or IP phones in under a minute, allowing operations to continue smoothly. Once Teams service resumes, systems switch back automatically without manual intervention.
Beyond continuity, Streams.AI also delivers full unified communications capabilities inside Teams. These include enterprise calling, SMS and MMS messaging, HIPAA-compliant fax, voicemail transcription, unified contacts, and presence indicators. Additionally, advanced tools such as call recording, conferencing, call parking, and multi-device routing give organizations greater flexibility in managing communications.
A key highlight is Luna AI, PanTerra’s intelligent virtual receptionist. Instead of traditional keypad menus, callers can speak naturally, and Luna AI routes calls based on intent. Importantly, Luna AI continues operating even when Microsoft Teams goes offline, ensuring consistent customer handling at all times.
From an IT perspective, Streams.AI simplifies administration by offering a centralized management portal. IT teams can handle user provisioning, call flows, device management, and compliance policies from one dashboard. Integration with Microsoft Entra ID also allows automatic user updates based on group changes, reducing manual workload.
Security and reliability remain core priorities. Streams.AI runs on a SOC 2 Type II certified platform, supports HIPAA compliance, and delivers 99.99% uptime backed by redundant data centers and carrier-grade routing.
“Microsoft Teams is where people work—but it shouldn’t be where communications reliability ends,” said Arthur Chang, President & CEO of PanTerra Networks. “Streams.AI for Microsoft Teams keeps users working inside Microsoft Teams while ensuring communications stay available even when Microsoft services go down. Organizations get enterprise-grade calling, intelligent AI routing, and award-winning management tools—without Microsoft licensing overhead, without Direct Routing complexity, and without the vulnerability of a single point of failure.”
