CyberArk Unveils Identity Security Solution for AI Agents

CyberArk Unveils Identity Security Solution for AI Agents

CyberArk, widely recognized as a global leader in identity security, has officially released the CyberArk Secure AI Agents Solution, now available to all customers. This new capability extends the CyberArk Identity Security Platform, introducing the industry’s first privilege controls designed specifically to protect the rapidly growing category of AI agent identities.

As more organizations integrate AI agents to streamline workflows and accelerate automation, these autonomous systems are rapidly becoming a critical and increasingly privileged identity type. However, their expanded role also brings significant risks. AI agents can hallucinate, behave unpredictably, or even be exploited by attackers. These dangers escalate when agents require elevated permissions to perform their tasks.

To counter these challenges, the CyberArk Secure AI Agents Solution applies precise privilege controls to ensure AI agents only receive the access they need, exactly when they need it. By limiting unnecessary permissions, organizations can minimize security exposure, prevent unauthorized activity, and scale AI initiatives more safely across the enterprise.

Matt Cohen, CEO of CyberArk, emphasized the urgency of securing this emerging identity class:

“As organisations embrace AI agents, both builders and defenders must understand how identity-centric risks evolve when agents require elevated privileges. Without strong discovery, robust privilege controls and comprehensive life cycle management, organisations risk losing visibility and opening the door to catastrophic agentic attacks. CyberArk uniquely secures the full spectrum of identities – humans, machines and AI agents – by applying the right level of privilege controls, enabling innovation while maintaining security and compliance.”

Recent findings from CyberArk’s latest CISO research highlight the scale of the issue. AI agent adoption is projected to reach 76% within the next three years, yet only a small fraction of organizations fewer than 10% have implemented appropriate privilege and security measures. The report, Securing Agentic AI: Identity as the Emerging Foundation for Defense, reveals several concerning trends:

  • Nearly 40% of enterprises in the software and financial sectors already use agentic AI in production.

  • Fewer than one in ten organizations have deployed security controls such as dynamic authorization or agentic risk registries.

  • Two-thirds of CISOs in these industries consider agentic AI one of their top three cybersecurity threats.

  • Most expect cybersecurity investments to rise as agentic AI becomes more prevalent.

AI agents often operate independently, have reasoning abilities, and access sensitive environments. Without proper oversight, their privileged capabilities can be abused or weaponized, resulting in severe operational, financial, and regulatory consequences.

CyberArk’s Identity Security Platform already provides strong privilege controls for human and machine identities. With the launch of the Secure AI Agents Solution, these same principles including least privilege, just-in-time access, and continuous session oversight now extend fully to AI agents.

The solution includes:

  • Comprehensive Agent Discovery: Automatically identifies AI agents across SaaS, cloud, and development environments and enriches their profiles with ownership, access rights, and roles.

  • Secure Agent Access: Enforces strong authentication, least-privilege access, zero standing privileges, and full activity auditing.

  • Real-Time Threat Monitoring: Detects unusual behaviors or unauthorized actions and triggers immediate alerts and responses.

  • End-to-End Lifecycle Governance: Manages AI agents from creation to retirement while supporting compliance requirements and audit readiness.

Through this unified, privilege-first strategy, CyberArk enables organizations to embrace AI innovation while maintaining rigorous security and compliance standards.
