MWC 2026: Amdocs and Microsoft Team Up for AI-Led Application Modernization

MWC 2026: Amdocs and Microsoft Team Up for AI-Led Application Modernization

At MWC 2026, Amdocs announced a strategic collaboration with Microsoft to introduce AI-accelerated application modernization solutions for enterprises. Through this partnership, the two companies aim to help organizations modernize legacy systems, reduce technical debt, and create an agent-ready technology foundation powered by artificial intelligence.

As enterprises increasingly seek faster and more efficient modernization strategies, Amdocs and Microsoft are delivering a comprehensive approach that connects business case planning directly to execution. Rather than treating cloud migration as a standalone project, the collaboration positions it as a core enabler within a broader digital transformation journey. Consequently, enterprises can improve both quality and operational efficiency across the entire technology lifecycle.

Amdocs brings its multivendor Amdocs Agentic Services to the partnership, combining modernization expertise with Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Foundry (including Azure Open AI in Foundry Models), Microsoft Migration Agents, GitHub Copilot, and Fabric IQ. By integrating these tools, enterprises can deploy coordinated AI-driven IT agents that automate and orchestrate end-to-end modernization activities. This coordinated system accelerates refactoring, strengthens architectural resilience, and ensures seamless migration to Microsoft Azure.

At the heart of this initiative lies Amdocs Agentic Services, part of the Amdocs agentic operating system (aOS). This framework orchestrates specialized agents from across Amdocs Studios into intelligent, multi-agent workflows. Delivered through a growing library of prebuilt and customizable workflows, the system operationalizes AI across modernization initiatives at scale. As a result, enterprises benefit from simplified execution, enhanced quality assurance, improved consistency, and measurable business outcomes—all while maintaining full observability and governance.

"This collaboration with Microsoft marks a pivotal step forward in shaping how enterprises modernize at scale," said Anthony Goonetilleke, Group President of Technology and Head of Strategy at Amdocs. "Powered by Amdocs aOS, with AI embedded at the core of execution, we are reimagining modernization as an agent-led, intelligently orchestrated process that helps organizations address technical debt and achieve enterprise-grade speed and efficiency."

"Enterprises today are looking for practical, scalable ways to modernize their applications while minimizing risk and disruption," said Rick Lievano, Worldwide CTO, Telco, Media & Gaming at Microsoft. "By combining Microsoft's AI capabilities with Amdocs' deep modernization expertise to deliver Service-as-Software, this collaboration empowers customers to accelerate their cloud journeys on Microsoft Azure with greater confidence, speed, and efficiency."

Ultimately, the collaboration between Amdocs and Microsoft reflects a growing shift toward AI-orchestrated modernization strategies that enable enterprises to transform legacy infrastructures into agile, future-ready platforms.
