Zoom Introduces AI Companion 3.0 to Power Agentic Workflows

Zoom Introduces AI Companion 3.0 to Power Agentic Workflows

Zoom Communications, Inc. has unveiled the next major evolution of its agentic AI capabilities with the launch of Zoom AI Companion 3.0, marking a significant step in the company’s transformation from a video-meeting platform into an AI-first intelligent work orchestration leader. The latest release introduces advanced AI-driven features for personal workflows (currently in beta), agentic AI capabilities for Zoom Docs (coming soon), and a newly designed web interface that provides deeper context to help users uncover insights, streamline their day, and turn conversations into meaningful action.

As modern work becomes increasingly complex and distributed, professionals often struggle to translate meetings, chats, and documents into clear next steps. Zoom AI Companion 3.0 directly addresses this challenge by embedding intelligence across the Zoom ecosystem, enabling users to move seamlessly from discussion to execution. With enhanced conversational capabilities and broader surface integration, AI Companion now plays a more proactive role in helping users organize work, manage tasks, and collaborate more effectively.

At the foundation of AI Companion 3.0 is Zoom’s unique federated AI approach. This strategy combines Zoom’s proprietary large language models (LLMs) and small language models (SLMs) with leading third-party models from OpenAI and Anthropic. In addition, users can leverage powerful open-source models such as NVIDIA Nemotron. By orchestrating multiple models together, Zoom delivers more accurate results, stronger contextual understanding, and higher-quality outputs. Improved transcription, closed captions, and translated captions further enhance information retrieval and task completion, ensuring users receive relevant insights when they need them most.

Commenting on the milestone, Velchamy Sankarlingam, president of Product and Engineering at Zoom, said:

“The launch of AI Companion 3.0 is a turning point for Zoom, continuing our transformation from a meeting company into a pioneer of AI-first intelligent work orchestration. By empowering our users with new AI Companion capabilities, we’re helping them get even more done so they can focus on connection.”

He further emphasized Zoom’s inclusive AI strategy, adding:

“Offering AI Companion’s newest capabilities both as a standalone option and within paid Zoom plans reflects our core belief of democratizing access to AI and providing users with intuitive solutions that can seamlessly understand their work context and help move conversations to completion.”

Industry analysts also see strong value in this approach. Kevin Kieller, co-founder and lead analyst at enableUC, noted:

“AI Companion 3.0 is the type of solution people need to get work done. People need easy-to-use, consistent, consolidated solutions, and that’s exactly what Zoom is striving to deliver with AI Companion 3.0. Adopting this type of solution will help organizations be more efficient and collaborative, ultimately driving productivity across an organization.”

As Zoom expands AI Companion across new surfaces, the company continues to prioritize security, privacy, and responsible AI. Customer data remains encrypted in transit and at rest, including data exchanged between Zoom and third-party model providers. Importantly, Zoom does not use communications-like customer content to train its own or external AI models, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and user trust.

Enterprise customers are already seeing value in AI Companion’s ability to turn conversations into action. Christine Sarros, senior vice president, Enterprise Engineering at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, shared:

“AI Companion is changing the way teams at Oracle work, helping us turn conversations into clear next steps and actionable insights. We look forward to the upcoming AI Companion 3.0 release and the new capabilities it offers to further enhance collaboration and productivity.”

Similarly, NVIDIA highlighted its role in powering the future of work through Zoom’s federated AI stack. Kari Briski, vice president of generative AI software at NVIDIA, stated:

“Through our collaboration with Zoom on AI Companion 3.0, NVIDIA Nemotron open models are helping power the future of work. Nemotron enables advanced reasoning and retrieval-augmented generation within Zoom’s federated AI stack, creating a private, powerful, and personalized work environment that enhances productivity for every enterprise customer.”

To make AI Companion even more accessible, Zoom now allows users to access it directly through a desktop web browser at ai.zoom.us. This makes it easier to transform meeting discussions into plans, briefs, and actionable insights. Select AI Companion features are also available to Zoom Workplace Basic users, while a standalone version can be purchased for $10 per month without requiring a paid Zoom Workplace license.

One of the most impactful additions is the new conversational work surface, which helps users start their day with clarity. By connecting directly to meetings, chats, and documents, AI Companion transforms scattered information into summaries, progress tracking, and polished content—without requiring manual uploads or complex prompts. Ali Dalloul, CSO and Americas CEO at G42, commented:

“At G42, we’re thrilled about the possibilities that Zoom AI Companion 3.0 brings to us. The new web-based work surface allows some of our divisions to experience Zoom’s agentic AI capabilities firsthand. It’s an exciting step toward a more connected, intelligent, and productive workplace.”

With features such as agentic retrieval, automated post-meeting follow-ups, daily reflection reports, agentic writing modes, deep research tools, and workflow automation, Zoom AI Companion 3.0 positions Zoom at the forefront of intelligent work orchestration. Overall, the release signals Zoom’s continued evolution beyond meetings, delivering AI-driven experiences that help individuals and organizations work smarter, faster, and with greater focus.
