Vonage, part of Ericsson, has officially rolled out its advanced fraud-prevention Network APIs across the U.S. market, marking a major step in strengthening digital security for enterprises and developers. Leading brands such as Freenow, a Lyft company, and Persona have already integrated these capabilities, demonstrating strong early adoption.
With this launch, Vonage becomes the first provider to deliver Silent Authentication and SIM Swap detection across all major U.S. carrier networks. This move enables enterprises to tap into real-time, carrier-verified trust signals, giving them direct access to powerful fraud-prevention tools that operate behind the scenes. As telecom networks continue to evolve, these capabilities are setting the stage for a more secure and seamless digital ecosystem.
Vonage designed its APIs to offer developers deeper access to mobile-network intelligence, helping them build applications with higher levels of fraud detection and a smoother customer experience. At the same time, these tools unlock new data capabilities for enterprises seeking to accelerate their digital transformation efforts. This combination of security upgrades and operational insights positions Vonage’s technology as a key driver for next-generation digital interactions.
Identity-related fraud has become one of the most urgent threats for U.S. companies, affecting 84% of businesses, while 77% of Americans encountered a scam in the past year. Against that backdrop, enterprises are under pressure to adopt systems that strengthen verification processes without adding friction to user journeys. Vonage aims to solve that challenge with Silent Authentication, which validates a user’s phone number automatically inside an app. This eliminates the need for SMS one-time passwords—long criticized for their vulnerability to phishing, social engineering, and interception attacks. Companies using Silent Authentication have reported three to five times faster user verification and as much as an eight-point increase in conversion rates compared to SMS OTPs.
Vonage’s SIM Swap API further boosts protection by identifying recent SIM-card changes. As unauthorized SIM-swap fraud has surged by more than 1,000%, early-warning signals are becoming crucial for fraud teams. Businesses using Vonage’s detection see a 30–40% improvement in identifying takeovers before they escalate.
These fraud-prevention capabilities are now also live in markets such as France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK, expanding Vonage’s global coverage.
