Raymond James Launches Rai, Its Proprietary AI Operations Agent

Raymond James Launches Rai, Its Proprietary AI Operations Agent

Building on its long-term, service-focused artificial intelligence strategy, Raymond James has announced the launch of Rai, a proprietary digital AI operations agent designed to support employees and financial advisors with real-time, intelligent guidance.

Rai leverages natural language processing and generative AI to deliver immediate, curated responses to operational questions by drawing from multiple internal knowledge bases. The agent is designed to evolve over time, learning from user activity, preferences, and roles to provide increasingly personalized and relevant guidance.

According to the firm, Rai reflects a deliberate approach to applying artificial intelligence in secure, scalable ways that enhance service delivery while maintaining human oversight. The interactive question-and-answer platform integrates insights from Raymond James systems and policies to support informed decision-making, with full human-in-the-loop governance in place.

“Rai reflects our strategy of applying artificial intelligence to enhanced service models and secure, scalable applications that empower professionals and financial advisors across the firm,” said Paul Shoukry, Chief Executive Officer of Raymond James. He added that the firm remains committed to preserving the personal relationships that are central to its business while continuing to invest in AI-driven capabilities.

The AI agent adapts to individual users by considering their responsibilities, entitlements, and business functions. Following a successful pilot program, Rai is being rolled out to select business units, with plans for broader enterprise-wide deployment in the coming quarters.

“As an intelligent agent, Rai’s impact will only grow to deliver a bespoke experience for each individual user,” said Stuart Feld, Chief AI Officer. Feld noted that Rai represents the first phase of a broader, multi-stage integration designed to optimize processes across the organization.

Raymond James reported strong adoption of its AI initiatives, with more than 10,000 associates regularly using conversational AI tools. The firm also noted that approximately 3.2 million lines of code are generated each month through AI-assisted development under human supervision.

Recent enhancements to the company’s AI ecosystem include a CRM-based AI note assistant, AI-powered Zoom meeting summaries integrated with CRM workflows, generative AI search for internal knowledge databases, and secure access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot.

Raymond James continues to invest heavily in innovation, allocating approximately $1.1 billion annually toward technology initiatives aimed at advancing enterprise-wide efficiency, innovation, and client service through emerging technologies.
