Ribbon Communications Inc., a global leader in real-time communications software and IP optical networking solutions, announced the strategic collaboration in partnership with UK distributor Techland, a Gamma Communications company. Together, the companies will support the upgrade of Nasstar’s UK-wide voice network, reinforcing Ribbon’s position as a trusted technology provider for service providers, enterprises, and operators of critical infrastructure worldwide.
As organizations move away from legacy systems, the need for scalable, secure, and cloud-native voice platforms has become increasingly urgent. Nasstar, a leading managed IT and cloud services provider serving large enterprises and public sector organizations, recognized that its existing voice platform could no longer support its expanding operational and customer requirements. In response, the company chose to replace its incumbent vendor and transition to Ribbon’s next-generation voice architecture.
This strategic upgrade is designed to significantly improve service reliability while simultaneously reducing operational complexity and cost. Moreover, the new platform enables Nasstar to introduce advanced capabilities that align with modern enterprise communications needs, including cloud integration and unified communications support. By investing in this transformation, Nasstar positions itself to better support customers as they adopt digital-first, cloud-centric operating models.

To support this modernization effort, Nasstar is deploying Ribbon’s SIP-enabled voice platform, built to deliver flexibility, security, and centralized control at scale. The deployment includes centralized routing using Ribbon’s Policy Server (PSX), session border controller (SBC) technology for voice security, and centralized operational management through Ribbon Application Management Platform (RAMP). Together, these components create a resilient and highly manageable voice infrastructure.
In addition, Ribbon Analytics plays a critical role in the new architecture by delivering actionable insights into network performance. By leveraging machine learning capabilities, the analytics platform supports proactive monitoring and advanced fraud detection. This data-driven approach enables Nasstar to identify potential issues earlier, optimize network performance, and maintain high service quality across its national footprint.
The modernized network architecture supports a wide range of services, including national interconnect, SIP trunking for PBX environments, and seamless integration with Microsoft Teams. As a result, Nasstar can offer customers greater flexibility and choice while ensuring consistent voice quality and security across communication channels.
