Nokia Expands TIM Brasil Partnership to Build AI-Ready 5G Network with NVIDIA

Nokia Expands TIM Brasil Partnership to Build AI-Ready 5G Network with NVIDIA

Nokia has expanded its long-standing partnership with TIM Brasil to modernize and scale an AI-ready 5G network across Brazil. Through this extended agreement, TIM Brasil will enhance connectivity across regions representing nearly 42% of the country’s population. Following major investments in São Paulo, the operator will now broaden network modernization efforts nationwide, adding 14 more states across four regions.

As part of this expansion, TIM Brasil will strengthen its ability to deliver AI-powered connectivity solutions to enterprise customers. Moreover, the upgraded infrastructure will improve network efficiency, enhance performance, and elevate user experience while reducing environmental impact. At the same time, the initiative positions TIM Brasil to deploy future AI-driven Radio Access Network (RAN) capabilities, reinforcing its leadership in Brazil’s digital transformation journey.

Under the agreement, Nokia will deploy its latest-generation, energy-efficient, AI-RAN-ready AirScale portfolio. This includes Habrok Massive MIMO radios, Pandion Remote Radio Heads, AirScale small cell solutions, and comprehensive services covering deployment, optimization, and ongoing support. Consequently, TIM Brasil will achieve broader coverage, seamless indoor connectivity, and greater scalability. Additionally, these solutions align with sustainability goals by lowering energy consumption across the network.

The modernization will directly benefit major cities such as Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Goiânia, Manaus, Belém, and São Luís, among others. As a result, millions of users will experience faster, more reliable 5G services. Furthermore, Nokia’s technology will prepare TIM Brasil’s infrastructure for future advancements, including 5G Advanced, 6G, and sophisticated AI-driven services.

Alberto Griselli, CEO at TIM Brasil, stated:
"We are raising the bar for 5G in Brazil with a more efficient, automated network ready for new services. This translates into a better experience for millions of customers across different regions of the country and greater value for companies, with solutions that increase productivity and reinforce our commitment to leading digital transformation in the B2B segment. We remain focused on connecting people, strengthening businesses and driving the country’s digital future."

In parallel, TIM Brasil will implement Nokia’s MantaRay SON (Self-Organized Network), a leading automation solution designed to streamline routine operations, enhance network quality, and reduce operational costs. By leveraging AI and advanced analytics, the platform will help manage the growing complexity of 5G networks.

Justin Hotard, President and CEO at Nokia, commented:
"AI is already reshaping network traffic and performance expectations. As AI becomes a dominant workload, networks must evolve to be truly AI-native — designed to adapt in real time to dynamic traffic patterns and deterministic performance demands. Our expanded partnership with TIM Brasil strengthens the architectural foundation of its 5G network, embedding greater automation and intelligence to support AI-driven services at national scale. Together, we are building a resilient, software-driven infrastructure capable of enabling new enterprise use cases and supporting Brazil’s next phase of AI-powered growth"

Additionally, Nokia and TIM Brasil will collaborate on transformative AI use cases such as intelligent slicing, image and video recognition, voice recognition, and threat detection. This initiative builds on Nokia’s AI-RAN partnership with NVIDIA, further accelerating AI innovation across telecom and enterprise sectors.

Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecommunications at NVIDIA, added:
"Like telecom, AI has become essential infrastructure, transforming every industry in its wake. As telecom networks evolve to become AI-native, they unlock entirely new opportunities for innovation and growth. Our collaboration with Nokia and TIM Brasil on AI-RAN and Edge AI application development marks an important step in that direction, built on a software-driven foundation that enables us to move at the pace of innovation."

Overall, this expanded partnership underscores a shared commitment to building a resilient, AI-native telecom ecosystem that supports Brazil’s next phase of digital growth.
