Maxon and Tencent Cloud Partner to Advance 3D Creativity with Artist-First Generative AI

Maxon and Tencent Cloud Partner to Advance 3D Creativity with Artist-First Generative AI

At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, Tencent Cloud, the cloud computing arm of global technology company Tencent, announced a strategic partnership with Maxon, a leading provider of professional software solutions for 3D design, motion graphics, and visual effects. Through this collaboration, the two companies aim to introduce advanced generative AI capabilities that enhance creative workflows while keeping artists firmly in control of the process.

Maxon, originally founded in Germany and now serving creative professionals worldwide, has built a reputation for delivering powerful yet user-friendly tools for creators across industries. Now, through its partnership with Tencent Cloud, the company plans to integrate Tencent HY 3D Global into its award-winning Cinema 4D platform, available on both iPad and desktop devices. As a result, millions of creators around the world will gain access to scalable generative AI directly within their everyday workflows.

Tencent HY 3D Global is powered by Tencent’s proprietary generative AI model and provides API-based services for high-quality 3D model generation and processing. By integrating this technology into Cinema 4D, Maxon significantly enhances the platform’s capabilities for animation, modeling, simulation, and rendering. In addition, the new AI-powered functionality is designed to improve production speed, increase reliability, and offer greater creative flexibility. According to the companies, this feature is expected to become available in late 2026.

Importantly, the partnership arrives at a time when the global creative community is actively debating the role of artificial intelligence in artistic work. Many creators have expressed concerns that AI tools might undermine human creativity, replace jobs, or rely on training data that lacks transparent ethical standards. Recognizing these concerns, Tencent Cloud and Maxon emphasize a creator-first philosophy that prioritizes transparency and artistic control.

During the announcement at MWC 2026, Tencent Cloud presented the first recorded demonstration of the integration. The demonstration highlighted a workflow where creators remain in charge of every step of the creative process. In this model, generative AI functions as an assistant rather than a replacement, helping artists work more efficiently while still allowing them to guide the creative direction.

Furthermore, this collaboration builds on the long-standing relationship between Tencent and Maxon. Both companies see the partnership as an opportunity to introduce responsible AI innovations that help creators experiment with new tools while maintaining control over their artistic output. Together, they aim to shape the future of modern 3D design technology and enable creators to explore new possibilities in digital content creation.

Fred Sun, General Manager of Europe, Tencent Cloud International, said,
"We are proud to partner with Maxon to bring Tencent HY 3D technology into Cinema 4D. This collaboration underscores our leadership in scalable AI solutions and highlights our commitment to empowering creators with tools that enhance productivity while preserving artistic integrity. We are opening new opportunities across 3D design, character creation, and immersive experiences, demonstrating how innovation can responsibly support the creative community."

David McGavran, CEO of Maxon, said,
"This partnership reflects our core values of delighting customers, empowering the artistic community, and fostering curiosity and exploration. That is why we are approaching generative AI thoughtfully. Our commitment remains unchanged: to build tools that amplify human creativity and strengthen the professional workflows our users rely on. By integrating Tencent's HY 3D technology into Cinema 4D, we are providing a tool that streamlines tedious tasks and helps creators move more quickly from concept to execution, while the artist remains fully in control."

Philip Losch, Chief Technology and AI Officer of Maxon, added,
"Working closely with Tencent Cloud has given us the agility to experiment and iterate quickly. The collaboration unlocks new levels of scalability and reliability for creators. It ensures generative AI delivers high quality results that expand what artists can achieve, while maintaining the flexibility and precision they expect. This sets the stage for a new era of creative workflows."
