Kyndryl, a global leader in mission-critical enterprise technology services, has introduced a new suite of AI-powered offerings designed to modernize mainframe environments and elevate how organizations leverage agentic AI. These services blend Kyndryl’s unmatched mainframe expertise with advanced hybrid IT and agentic AI capabilities, enabling customers to accelerate application development, boost operational agility, and extract deeper business insights by expanding their AI footprint across the platform.
The new agentic AI mainframe services were built specifically to help IBM z/OS customers adopt modern technologies and AI-enriched delivery models. By doing so, organizations can simplify complex processes across infrastructure and application management while empowering teams to make faster, more informed decisions.
Hassan Zamat, Global Practice Leader for Core Enterprise & zCloud at Kyndryl, highlighted the company’s leadership in AI-driven innovation. “Kyndryl is leading the way in providing world-class agentic AI-enabled delivery services to customers that will instill confidence in the mainframe's role as an engine of innovation for global enterprises,” he said. “We are committed to combining the power of our skilled delivery practitioners with agentic AI to provide differentiated experiences and outcomes to help drive growth for our customers.”
How Kyndryl’s Agentic AI Enhances Mainframe Operations
These new services can be integrated with the agentic ingestion capabilities of Kyndryl’s Agentic AI Framework, allowing seamless orchestration of automated workflows and AI agents. Customers adopting the solution can expect several key benefits:
-
Faster, smarter decisions supported by proactive issue detection and resolution.
-
Higher reliability and improved compliance across the software lifecycle.
-
Access to deep technical expertise, supplemented by AI that bridges existing skills gaps.
-
Stronger responsiveness to emerging threats and opportunities, helping create resilient and modernized IT ecosystems.
Kyndryl has embedded these services within Kyndryl Bridge, its open integration platform, to deliver predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and continuous insights across the mainframe landscape. In addition, the company is deploying IBM watsonx Assistant for Z and select ecosystem AI platforms to streamline orchestration, automation, and lifecycle management.
Skyla Loomis, General Manager of IBM Z Software, emphasized the value of the partnership. “Through our collaboration with Kyndryl, we're helping enterprises bring powerful AI capabilities to the core systems that run their business,” she said. “Kyndryl's newest AI services empower clients to deploy advanced AI on the mainframes that form the backbone of their operations to accelerate decision-making and drive operational agility.”
Among the additions is the Kyndryl AI Assistant for Z, a robust knowledge base built on decades of Kyndryl’s mainframe expertise. Integrated into Kyndryl Bridge, the assistant supports skills development, knowledge retention, and proactive platform management through AI-driven prompts and actions.
Kyndryl’s approach also leverages intellectual property and strategic partnerships with hyperscalers and global technology providers to drive innovation for customers. By bringing AI inferencing closer to mainframe data, Kyndryl helps organizations scale AI workloads efficiently while reducing latency and enhancing performance—particularly in use cases like fraud detection, claims processing, and customer behavior analysis.
Insights from Kyndryl’s 2025 State of Mainframe Modernization Survey show that 88% of organizations have already implemented or plan to adopt AI, including agentic and generative AI, within their mainframe environments. Respondents expect AI to increase business agility, reduce operational errors, and cut costs—while also acknowledging talent shortages as a significant barrier. The study predicts AI will drive $12.7 billion in cost savings and $19.5 billion in new revenue over the next three years, driven by advancements in resource optimization, security, and threat detection.
